The Tradies has been developed as a simple, yet effective platform for customers to find reliable trade services, and tradespeople to build up their client base and find work. We have seen a number of current platforms charging either extremely high fees for sourcing job leads, or deducting high commission rates from completed jobs. We have developed this platform to be used initially by customers and tradespeople from the North West of England completely free of charge. We may look at branching out to other areas of England at a later date, but our focus currently is on the North West.
The function of our platform is simple, yet has all the features needed for a smooth transaction between customers and tradespeople.

HOW IT WORKS – FOR CUSTOMERS

Creating your account with us only takes a couple of minutes. Click the register now button and fill out a few details and accept our email verification link and your account will be live. Once you’re account is live and verified you will then be able to post jobs/projects, and contact Tradies direct from their profile pages. 

STEP 2 – Posting Jobs/Projects

Once you are logged in, if you click on your Menu button, you will see a link to Post a job. You’ll need to complete some simple details, such as a job title, description of the work you would like completing, the job location, and the type of tradesperson you are looking for. You can also request that they have certain skills, but this is optional. You will be asked to enter your budget for this job, this is just an estimated of what you are willing to spend and tradespeople can quote over this amount. The job location listed is based on a town or city location that you enter, we do not take customers addresses as part of the registration process. Customers are in charge of who they contact, and who they decide to hire. Tradespeople will not have access to message customers, or view any of their information other than the job description – the customer must initiate contact. 

STEP 3: – Receiving Proposals

Once you receive a proposal from a tradesperson, you will receive an email notification. Once you login to your dashboard, if you go to “Latest Proposals” and click view proposals against the job, you will see all of your proposals listed. Trades members may put an estimation of what the work may cost, but we don’t request this as it’s normal practice for tradespeople to visit your property to assess before giving a financial quote. On this page, you will see the tradespersons contact details, along with a “Chat Now” button which will initiate a conversation through our built in Tradies chatroom. You can then discuss the job in more detail, and pass your address details for them to visit your property and quote. It is down to the customer which contact method they would prefer. 

Once you have found the right tradesperson you can click the Hire Now button next to their proposal which will send an email notification to the tradesperson and change the status of the job to ongoing. 

STEP 4 – Completed Jobs

Once the tradesperson has completed the work, if you go to “Ongoing Jobs” in your dashboard, and click project history, you will see a status bar that you can change to Completed. Once you do this, you will be prompted to leave feedback for the tradesperson and this will then display on their profile for their future customers to view. 

We do not get involved in any form of financial transactions between the customer and the tradesperson. Any form of financial agreements is solely between the two parties, we do not keep record of any financial quotes, any payment history, or get involved in any payment disputes.

Creating your account with us only takes a couple of minutes. Click the register now button, fill out a few details, accept our email verification link and your account will be live. If you’re signing up as a tradesperson, you then need to create your profile for customers to view your work. Please make sure your profiles are detailed, with plenty of information about your services, and images to showcase your previous work. This profile is what the customer will view when you sent any proposals to them.

STEP 2 – Apply for Jobs/Projects

Once you’re profile has been completed you can head to the “Search Jobs/Projects” page and search customers listings for any relevant jobs that you would like to send proposals for. Simply view the job, and click submit proposal on the page. It’s a simple proposal form comprising of a timeframe when you’re likely to be able to do the work, and a message box to give some initial information. Remember that customers can also contact you directly from your profiles, without listing a job, as you’ll also appear in our directory once your profile is live.

STEP 3 – What happens next?

Once a customer receives a proposal they will be notified by email. Once they login, they can view your profile and they will be issued with your contact details, and also an option to use the Tradie Chat to contact you. You will then discuss the job with the customer, and usually provide you with their address for you to go to their property and issue a full quote. If their happy, they can then click the Hire Now button which will change the status of the job to ongoing and both you, and the customer will see this in your dashboard. You’ll already be connected in the Tradie Chat to continue to discuss the job, keeping all of your communication in one secured place. 

STEP 4 – Feedback & Payment

Once the work is complete, the customer can go into the ongoing job, and against the project history tab there is a status bar which the customer can change to completed. Once they do this, they will be prompted with a feedback box where they can rate your service out of 5, and leave further feedback comments. This detail will go against your feedback rating on the platform, and will be displayed on your profile for future clients to view.
